The Occult Corpus is about as big as it can possibly get… While there is still some room for growth, the place IS getting a bit bloated. So with that, I was thinking it may be time to actually expand the place (kind of) by creating a new set of sites to help carry the load.

I do NOT want to have the OC weighed down with additional sites and more links then are needed, so my proposal is to simply make an entire new set of sites so that they can grown on their own into their own communities.

So with that, here is what I am thinking…

The largest of the sub-forums here are Chaos Magick & Ceremonial Magick, and I’ve received several requests to expand these and separate them into additional sub-boards and the like. Such things can be server intensive especially on a board as big as the OC (over 50 boards and growing!) By taking the expansion off site, it would allow smoother sailing on each individual forum and will allow each of those forum to segregate on a higher level then that found here on Occult Corpus.

Proposed Forums
Magickal Forums (magickalforums.com)
Chaos Magick Forums (chaosmagickforums.com)
Ceremonial Magick Forums (ceremonialmagick.info)

For the three of them to get started I need a total of $600 dollars. That will pay for the domains, vBulletin licenses (without blogs), and get me going on hosting.

My main goal is to get the Magickal Forum’s set up as a base ($200), then any additional benefactor memberships will grant Contributor memberships on the other two (and more) for at least the first year Contributors will get sustainer upgrades accordingly as well. However, these upgrades will be manually, so it may take several days for the cross over.

These forums will not truly be affiliated with the Occult Corpus beyond this post and getting them set up (You may need to contact me here till I can get the MF board going). As such, I can not offer any perks for the OC by buying into the new forums at this time…

_____________________

The boards will be as follows:

Magickal Forums (magickalforums.com)

NOT a clone of the OC, but will have a few crossover topics such as Divination. The scope of the board will be to kind of expand on many of the proposals made here at the OC but that would bloat this board…

Overall it would be another general discussion board for magick and the occult, but for the most part would cater to a slightly different crowd then here at the OC.

Chaos Magick Forums (chaosmagickforums.com)

The general ChM discussion board on this forum will be pretty much like the ChM board here on the OC, but there will be sub forums specifically for the different aspects of ChM (which there is not room for here).

Ceremonial Magick Forums (ceremonialmagick.info)

As like the ChM forum, it’s base forum will be pretty much as seen here on the OC, but there will be more paradigm specific subforums as well as (hopefully) more in-depth discussions from Ceremonialists!

Once these three boards are created, I’ll be taking suggestions for additional forums of a more specific nature (Druidry, Buddhism, etc.) but one step at a time…one step at a time.

NOTE: All three forums are actually created, but any new posts or members will likely be deleted once I can get them upgraded to vB.

_____________________

The membership tiers will be pretty much as they are here on the OC, but with a few minor differences… (some of the below options may change)

(B) Benefactor —— $50 (Equal to Board without the ability to Vote)
(C) Contributor —– $25 (Standard Gold Membership)
(S) Sustainer ——- $10 (Standard Silver Membership)
— Custom Title —- $5 (same as here)
— Name Change —– $5 (one time only)

BCS –> Gold Colored name
BCS –> Custom User Title
BCS –> “Benefactor/Contributor/Supporter” Rank/Title
BC- –> Can upload images for Signature (200×400) (NEW!)
BC- –> Can have a photo album
B– `—> larger images
BC- –> Can create Social Groups (but not delete them)
BC- –> Can use thread [prefixes]
B– –> Can use thread icons
BCS –> Will NOT see advertisements

_____________________

As a completely unrelated note, I am also considering NON-occult board (currently Homesteading) so if you are willing to hunt down enough contributors to get it up & running (up to $300 annually depending on various factors), I may consider taking it under my wing.

How do you make a contribution to this? Well, at the moment I am not exactly sure. I would hate to take your money if I can not garner enough support for the forum you would like to contribute to… so I guess at the moment, I am just working on “promises”… so if you’d like to contribute, shoot me a PM or email, and we can work it out from there…

Thanks!

I am seeking to start a forum for my homesteading site (www.homesteading.us) and have tried several free forum platforms but dislike most of them for various reasons. The only forums that have everything I need would be ones I actually need to pay for. That’s IPB, which I do not really care for from a members viewpoint, and the other is vBulletin, which I actually like all the way around (cept maybe price).

Its current price is $195 without any bells and whistles, and I have only about half of that, so I was hoping to find a select few people that would be willing to help come up with the other half. This does not include the annual hosting (which will need to be increased with the addition of a forum) or the domain name (which I we actually have anyway because of the main homesteading blog).

If you would be willing to help out by any means let me know.

Graphics, web design (Actually, server side, and/or front end experience with vB are pretty much a must). Mods will likely also be needed, but I am holding off at this time (and will likely promote members that seem worthy).

Cost is really the big issue, so I am going to offer up Gold Memberships for full price, but with extended benefits.

The price for gold will initially be set at $20 and will be for one year, but if you are willing to take the chance and pay before the forum is actually set up, I’ll double that time! (In fact, if you wish to pay more then $20 I’ll double any time offered, as in, four years for $40). So in effect I will actually give a full year of Gold Membership for $10, which generally would only last 6 months.

The perks you will get are as follows…
- Custom User Title
- Access to the Benefactor Forum
- The ability to ‘vote’ for changes
- Larger Avatar
- Ability to upload/download attachments
- 500 Private messages
- Ability to ignore PM quotas
- Thread prefixes (read more)
- Larger profile image
- Board Member ‘rank’ title
- ONE name change (optional)
- The ability to create Social Groups
- You’ll never see ads on the site

I am also pondering having a silver membership which would be less then what you’d get above…but I’ll not put that into effect till the board is up.

Another usergroup I have been considering is Plantinum, which would have all the above perks, plus access to the moderators social board, and greater input into the site. This membership will likely be set to $50 annually, so if you are interested, let me know (and I’ll again, set it for two years rather then the base one year).

Additionally, ANYONE that donates ANY amount will be notified once the forum is started so that you can help set the place up by giving board suggestions and additional input on things like skins, images, and the like.

Again, I can not do this until I can get at least 5 or 6 members…so you can either pay now and hope for the best, or shoot me a note and pay once I have collected enough members. If you pay me now and I can not get additional members in a month, I’ll send your money back. But please do consider this, as I think the addition of a forum will greatly help…

Only two stars on this one! It was a wonderful concept, and a very interesting story line, but it’s direction and cinematography were very hard to follow along with. It is difficult to tell where the dreams start and reality ends which was the cause for much of the confusion.

Its the story of an 8 year old girl who falls victim to an entity named Ink. Ink kidnaps her and its up to her ’story teller’ dream-giving guardian and a ‘path finder’ to get her back while they fight a nightmare giving group of Succubus.

I can say that the entire concept behind the dream entities was a brilliant and original move on the part of the movie and that was what kept me watching it. If you like movies that cross over to the ‘other side’ then you may really enjoy this movie (assuming you can follow along with it’s direction).

This movie would have gotten all 5 stars, but I kept that last one off based on it simply being WAY to sad for my tastes. Would you believe it actually brought tears to my eyes twice in the first 18 minutes alone?

Its a story of a boy that falls in love with a girl to whom he makes a promise to put a house on Wonder Falls (which is in South America, which is just like America, but south). He can not fufill this promise until he is rather old, and along the way he finds he has to keep an eye out for a young Scout, a talking dog, and a strange bird. Together this unlikely group has to battle a world famous adventurer and the rest of his ‘talking dogs’.

All in all it is a great movie, but it is SERIOUSLY sad! So if you watch it, keep a box of tissue nearby you may find you need it.

It is fun for the entire family though, as my 5 year old grandson sat through the entire movie twice and watched it all the way through both times.

I gave this movie 5 out of 5 stars, but only because I myself am a gamer. If you are a gamer, then I HIGHLY recommend this movie. I strongly recommend this movie to those that know gamers. And suggest that if you are not a gamer or don’t know any gamers to simply skip this movie all together.

This has simply been the best movie I’ve seen in YEARS because it really hit me on a personal level. The lead character (Kevin) is a Dungeon Master trying to get his players to run through a campaign that he is trying to to work out so he can get it published. The story itself follows the group through the trials and tribulations of the players as they work out the details of the game.

The gaming bits are played out in live action (but not in a LARP style) mixed in with the table talk that goes on throughout any table top game.

I think that had TSR (now Wizards of the Coast) would have done the Dungeons & Dragons movie in this style it would have faired FAR better then it did, as this movie is truly what playing D&D is all about.

Again, I give it all five stars!

I’m still in my Kungfu watching phase and it was suggested that I’d like this movie based on it being a comedy… but sadly I did not care for it for the most part.

It was in the same vain as Shaft however, it was not nearly as good as they simply did not do as good of a job at making it as corny as the original. The acting was bad at it’s best, and at worst it was un-watchable. But I did watch it!

The ending was SUPER however with one exception (Black Dynamite won the fight).

I highly suggest you skip the movie and simply watch this clip (WARNING: SPOILER!) as these last 10 minutes were truly the only bits worthy of being watched.

Black Dynamite SPOILER

Though, if you plan on watching the entire movie, then please don’t watch the clip as it’ll spoil the entire thing.

That’s right, 5 outta five!

I remember really enjoying the first one, so when I noticed I could watch this instantly on Netflix I just needed to get time without Perrin around as heh, this movie has to have more expletives in it then ANY other movie I’ve ever seen!

The movie itself though was a bit over the top in the cheese which is something that I do not really recall from the first one, but none the less, I still really enjoyed it!

There were several great quotes from the movie, but I think the one below is likely the best.

It’s from a dream sequence…

Quote:

Connor MacManus, Murphy MacManus: Sláinte
Murphy MacManus: You know, he was sort of a badass though, wasn’t he?
Connor MacManus: Shades of Eastwood. Charlie Bronson.
Rocco: Duke Fucking Wayne!
Connor MacManus, Murphy MacManus: Duke Fucking WAYNE!
Rocco: Men build things, then we die. It’s in our fucking DNA! THAT’S WHAT WE DO!
Murphy MacManus: And when it all falls down?
Rocco: We build it right back up again.
Connor MacManus: But this time bigger. BETTER!
Rocco: Look! Look what we can do. Look how fuckin’ beautiful we are. You think the men that built all this had it easy?
Murphy MacManus: Hard men!
Connor MacManus: Doing hard shit!
Rocco: and that gives me a hard on… But not in a gay way or anything like that.
Murphy MacManus: No, ‘course not
Connor MacManus: Yeah it goes without sayin’
Rocco: I am so sick of all of this self help, twelve step, leftover hippie generation bullshit!
Connor MacManus: Now they don’t want you to do anything, right? Just sit there. Don’t drink.
Murphy MacManus: Don’t smoke. Don’t drive fast.
Connor MacManus, Murphy MacManus, Rocco: Kiss my ass!
Rocco: Fuck it! Do it all I say! Do you think Duke Wayne spent all of his time talking about his feelings with a fuckin’ therapist?
Connor MacManus: There’s no fucking way he did!
Rocco: John Wayne died with five pounds of undigested red meat in his ass. Now that’s a man! Real men hide their feelings. Why?
Connor MacManus, Murphy MacManus, Rocco: Because it’s none of your fuckin’ business!
Rocco: Men do not cry. Men do not pout. Men jack you in the fuckin’ jaw and say…
Detective Greenly: Thanks for comin’ out.

Kung Pow: Enter the Fist *****
That’s right, all five stars! Nothing beats a kumg-fu COW! Seriously one of the funniest films I’ve seen in decades. If ya get the chance, watch it in other languages as the “books on tape” version will have you in tears.

I forgot the name of the other one I watched recently, lol… so I give it just two stars.

But looking for others to watch, let me test you on the description of the movie…

After witnessing the brutal murder of his parents, young Jone (Dan Chupong) vows to avenge their deaths and make the killers pay, a mission that lands him in the dangerous world of _______.

A) Mafia
B) Drugs
C) Gambling
D) Street fighting
E) Cattle Rustling

If you picked A-D you’ve seen the movie a thousand times…but are completely wrong! That’s right, it’s E) Cattle Rustling!

Dynamite Warrior is the name of the movie, and I plan on watching as soon as I can… I mean, come on… cattle rustling!?!?!

(on a side note about movies, District 9 rocked! If ya like sub-titled frech films with LOTS of action).

Leading a magickal life can sometimes lead to living a mundane life that needs far too much explaining. If you are not going all out with your magick and would like to keep the majority of your occult things ‘hidden’ here are a few tips…

Herbs and Spices:

Keep your herbs in the kitchen on your “spice rack” if you cook some fancy meals now and again very few people will question why that section of your cupboard is packed full, though I do suggest that you keep the ones that are not all that wise to cook with in the back, as it would a bit hard to explain why your belladonna is next to your allspice.

Rock Collection:

Many people now-a-days collect stones, feel free to be one of them! However, it may help if you know not only their vibration levels, but also a few mundane facts about them (like where they came from, or their fancy Latin names)

Transforming the library:

Many of the used bookstores have cheap books, and some even have free bins. Grab some of the drabber titles and remove the covers to them. Now take the covers and put over your own occult collection. This should keep most people from even bothering to ask if they can borrow them.

You can mix in astrology books with astrology books with little effort without much explaining. Likewise, a handful of ceremonial books can be placed next to other biblical text without much cause for alarm. Numerology books could also pass for math books if you happen to have the option to pull that one off.

Reference books also tend to not warrant much concern by the average scanning of a bookshelf. Though you will need to pay attention to the book titles as an encyclopedia of herbs can get stuck in with cookbooks, but a “magickal encyclopedia” likely can not.

Books behind books are another method if you have deep enough shelves to allow it. If that is not an option the top (or bottom) of your closet, or inside of a chest is a good place to stash such literary works.

I’d try to stay away from putting your books at a friends house though, as that is just a bad idea which can lead to ‘whose book is who’s”.

Your magickal journals can often be placed in the open as well, assuming they are not bound in human flesh or adorned with magickal writing.

Aromatherapy and candles:

A candle collection is not going to raise many questions, and if it does make sure you call up the person asking the next time there is a power outage.

Incense and oils can be explained away through Aromatherapy or simply because “they smell nice” as many people use such things that have little or nothing to do on an esoteric level. However, I suggest that your house does not smell like an incense factory, as people may start to think you are smoking pot…
Tarot, runes, and fortunetelling:

Replace your tarot deck with playing cards, or hide it as per the library tips above.

Dice and Dominoes make fine replacements for such things as Runes, and in many cases are just as effective.
Other forms of Divination:
One can use a needle and thread as a pendulum rather then a stone on a chain, but if you simply must use the latter, place it with your “rock collection” and say you have no idea what it’s for and that you simply liked the pretty pointy stone.

A bowl with a few drops of ink can make a workable black mirror.

Ebooks and the computer:
Technomancy is alive and well when it comes to hiding things. One can pick up a thumb drive pretty cheap from most stores these days. The thumb drive is easily hidden, and can hold hundreds of online resources to be used offline.

Ritual Tools:
Mundane items as seen in previous tips can be used in magick, your tools are no exception. Kitchen knives for the Athame for instance, and while you are in the kitchen, feel free to put that mortal and pedestal up in your herb shelf.

A bell on the mantel will not raise many questions assuming it does not have pagan symbology all over it.

Hang that sword up on your wall, if you have a matching shield people will just think you are into Renaissance Faires. Staves can be placed next to the front door to be called a “walking stick” to your friends and family.

Jewelry (rings, necklaces, pendants, pentacles, etc) can be placed in your jewelry box, as few people look there unless they are planning to rob you.

Altar clothes in your linen cabinet, and robes in your closet are sometimes nice hiding places, as often times the best place to hide something is out in the open…
